Willie Horton cracked a homer and Mickey Lolich mowed down 12 New York batters
as the Detroit Tigers bested the New York Yankees 9 to 5 at Tiger
Stadium.
Lolich(11-7) delivered a fine performance for Detroit. He went 8 and 1/3
innings allowing 8 hits and 2 walks. Detroit out-hit New York for the game,

Mel Stottlemyre(15-12) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and

the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'
