The Detroit Tiger's big bats showed up in today's game as they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3. Detroit hit 3 homeruns off LA starter Don Drysdale, accounting for all 5 runs the Tigers scored. 2nd baseman Dick McAuliffe led off the game for Detroit with a blast into the rightfield seats. In the 3rd inning, Al Kaline and Willie Horton got their first hits of the series with both of them hitting 2 run homers. Tiger starter Denny McLain allowed solo shots to Drysdale and Lou Johnson, but otherwise pitched a good game until the 9th inning. The first two Dodger batters got on base and Larry Sherry came on in relief. He allowed a run to score before getting the final out and picking up his 2nd save.
