In today's game, Detroit got a fine complete game performance from starter Dave Wickersham, defeating Minnesota 4-1. Two-run homeruns from Willie Horton and Al Kaline provided all of the Tigers scoring. Twins starter Jim Merritt struck out 15 in a losing effort. The loss puts Minnesota 2 games behind the league leaders.

Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins by the count of 4 to 1.
