1966 NL News Recap: Standings and League Leaders

Sept. 1, 1966

As the final full month of the 1966 NL regular season begins, the 1st place Los Angeles Dodgers continue to dominate the leagues' pitching leaders led by the incredible work of Sandy Koufax and Don Sutton. The Houston Astro's Mike Cuellar has put up some impressive #'s himself: 15-5 with a 1.61 ERA but doesn't get a lot of recognition toiling for a 2nd division team. The Atlanta Brave's trio of Hank Aaron, Joe Torre and Felipe Alou lead the league in the major hitting categories while the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants have provided many of the league's other top batters.
