The Detroit Tigers announced today that they have acquired pitcher Earl Wilson from the Boston Red Sox. Detroit traded outfielder Don Demeter for Wilson. Demeter has been a solid contributor this season but the Tigers have an abundance of young outfielders ready to play MLB. Mickey Stanley is one that is expected to rejoin Detroit after being sent down to Triple A earlier this season. The Tigers are hoping that Wilson can fortify their rotation which has been lacking a solid #3 starter. Earl has been having a good year despite being on the cellar dwelling Sox. He's 6-6 with a 4.34 ERA. He'll also add a very good bat to the lineup whenever he starts. He's considered one of the best hitting pitchers in MLB.
