The Detroit Tigers announced today that manager Bob Swift(left) was hospitalized during the All Star break for an undertermined illness and coach Frank Skaff(right) will take over as interim manager when the regular season resumes play on Thursday. As many know, Swift took over the manager reins from Chuck Dressen in May after Dressen suffered a heart attack. Food poisoning is suspected to be the cause of Swift's ailment but more tests are being done to confirm the illness. So Detroit will have to deal with their 3rd skipper of the season while fighting for the AL Pennant during the 2nd half of the 1966 season.
