Perfection was achieved in Chicago as Bruce Howard(4-2) mesmerized the crowd
while retiring every awful Cleveland Indians batter, resulting in a 4 to
nothing victory.
Howard had an evening to remember. Heck, it's one we'll all remember! What a
game at Comiskey Park! The tension built to a fever pitch. After the 8th
inning everybody in the ballpark was anticipating what would happen in the
9th. Neither team managed to score after the 3rd inning.
The loss was charged to Sonny Siebert(5-11). Howard was in a jubilant mood
after the game. 'If I'd known I was going to throw a no hitter I would have
gotten a haircut!' he said, much to the delight of the clubhouse gathering.
