Mickey Mantle, Tom Tresh, and Joe Pepitone have lead the New York Yankees surprising rise to the to the top of the AL as the 1966 season turns to July. Pitcher Mel Stottlemyre is tied with Minnesota's Jim Kaat for most wins (10) in the AL and Pedro Ramos along with Hal Reniff have been brilliant at closing out games for the Yankees. The Baltimore Orioles Frank Robinson continues to lead the league in homers and rbi's while batting .331, 3rd in the AL. He has a shot at the triple crown.
