Tommy John Photos - 1968/May 7, 1966

Chicago White Sox pitcher Tommy John threw a 1-hit gem today, resulting in a 1-0 shutout victory against the Detroit Tigers. John walked none and struck out 2, allowing only a 5th inning single to Norm Cash. Tiger hurler Joe Sparma pitched his finest game of the season but it wasn't enough for Detroit who have now lost 3 in a row. The White Sox scored the lone run of the game in the 1st inning. Tommy Agee led off the game for Chicago with a triple and scored on a single to left by Floyd Robinson. The Tiger loss has created a 3 way tie at the top of the AL standings with Baltimore, New York, and Detroit. The Minnesota Twins are only 1/2 game back.
