Mickey Mantle hit for the cycle and had 4 RBI at Metropolitan Stadium as the
New York Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins 6 to 5.

Mantle had a big evening at the plate. He doubled bringing home two
baserunners in the 1st inning, lined a base-hit scoring a run in the 3rd
inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 5th inning and tripled in the
7th inning. Minnesota made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to
push the needed runs across.

Fritz Peterson(3-1) got the win allowing 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Hal
Reniff earned the save, his 3rd. The loss was charged to Camilo
Pascual(2-3). He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 5
innings.

'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Peterson, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
